Abrites expands its advanced Mercedes-Benz diagnostic functionality with a new procedure for resetting the NOx limit counter on supported Mercedes-Benz diesel vehicles.
The new functionality is designed to support professional workshops and diagnostic specialists working with Mercedes-Benz BlueTEC emissions systems, particularly after the underlying NOx, SCR or AdBlue-related fault has been identified and repaired.
The NOx limit counter is part of the emissions-control strategy used in modern Mercedes-Benz diesel vehicles equipped with BlueTEC and SCR systems.
The vehicle continuously monitors the performance of components responsible for reducing nitrogen oxide emissions, including:
If the engine control system detects a serious or persistent emissions-related fault, it may activate a countdown based on a limited number of remaining engine starts or driving distance.
Drivers may see warning messages such as:
“No start in X miles”
“No start in X starts”
“Check AdBlue”
If the underlying problem remains unresolved and the counter reaches zero, the vehicle may enter a no-start condition after the ignition is switched off.
This strategy is intended to ensure that critical emissions-control faults are repaired rather than ignored.
